INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY

Updated: May 26, 2022

Today, all nurses have their day. It is International Nurses' Day. Let's not just remember those who take care of us in modern hospitals. It is good not to forget the nurses who work without limits!

RED CROSS RESPONDS TO AN AVERAGE OF MORE THAN 60,000 DISASTERS EVERY YEAR.

Red Cross nurses are on the frontlines of some of the world’s most challenging armed conflicts and disasters. They help children survive horrific injuries caused by wars and earthquakes, care for people suffering from Ebola and cholera and save lives through hygiene and disease prevention education.

Today! Under mortal danger to themselves, Ukrainian Red Cross teams are working tirelessly to help people and communities impacted by conflict. The constant violence across the country has left hundreds of thousands of people without electricity, water, food.

MORE THAN 8,800 NURSES FROM DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS SAVING LIVES AROUND THE WORLD.

From cholera outbreaks to extreme violence, from providing basic care in deprived and remote communities to helping those forced to flee their homes, it would be hard to find a medical activity where MSF’s (Doctors Wihout Borders) nurses are not involved. It would be almost impossible to find any project where nurses are not on the frontline, delivering life-saving care to patients; every hour of every day.

Whether they scrub-in as nurse anaesthetists in an operating theatre, vaccinate thousands of children in one day, manage a hospital ward, travel hundreds of kilometres to help install a mobile clinic in an isolated community or triage people rescued from a sinking boat, MSF’s nurses are usually the first face a patient sees when in MSF’s care.

Thank you! You are making the world a better place!
