Only two northern white rhinos remain in the world – Najin and Fatu. Both females live at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya, where hundreds of people work on their protection. But what does protecting one of the planet's most endangered animals actually look like? How many rangers, how much technology, and how much money does it take to keep rhinos safe around the clock? And is there still a chance another northern white rhino will one day be born?
The guest of this podcast episode is Abraham Njenga, Manager of Wildlife Operations at Ol Pejeta Conservancy. He talks about the fight against poaching, rhino monitoring, and the daily work of rangers, as well as the expansion of their natural habitat and the BioRescue project, which is working to save the northern white rhino from complete extinction.
