Right now, the world is in a climate crisis
The most effective way to fight back is to protect the best carbon-storing technology that already exists: rainforest. And the best way to do that? Back, support, and listen to the people living there. Let's support Indigenous people. Let's support Cool Earth!
Why we need to save rainforests?
Capturing carbon

Tropical rainforests are vital carbon sinks that regulate our global climate and irreplaceable ecosystems. Put simply, forest cools the earth, and this is why we focus our work and your cash here. Carbon-capturing tropical biomes account for the highest area of forest globally. Keeping rainforest intact can provide 23% of climate mitigation urgently needed to cool our planet. Seen from the other side - deforestation is not the sole cause of climate change but it is significant, being responsible for 8% of CO2 emissions.
Home to 50% of the world’s biodiversity

From birds of paradise and tiny frogs to macaque monkeys. But beyond the beauty and wonder, we must acknowledge that protecting biodiversity is essential to the health of our planet, and it doesn’t stop at wildlife. Biodiversity is just as crucial to life on Earth as the sun, water and the air we breathe. Each tree, plant, insect, bird, mammal, reptile, insect, and fungi exist as part of a delicate ecosystem. All are highly dependent on each other and all are integral to the health of rainforest, the people that live there, and its ability to cool our climate.
About Cool Earth

Cool Earth is an international nonprofit founded in 2007 that partners with Indigenous communities to protect endangered rainforests in order to combat the climate crisis and protect ecosystems. The organisation is associated with long term partnerships with Indigenous villages, unconditional cash transfers and advocating for basic income as an effective conservation strategy.
It shares many of its methods and values with organisations and networks. Cool Earth has one of the most effective means of showing that conservation of rainforests can go hand in hand with community development.
Cool Earth's ethos is that the most effective custodians of rainforests are the people who have lived there for generations as they have the most to lose from its destruction. Their approach is to work with Indigenous and rainforest-based communities to secure threatened rainforest. The charity provides local people with the support they need to keep their rainforests standing. This is done by concentrating on three key areas, these are:
- Cash Transfers
- Local Economies
- Forest Data
The organisation is currently active across the world’s 3 largest rainforest biomes. They work directly with communities in Peru, Papua New Guinea, and the Congo Basin. These communities are on the front line of deforestation, and Cool Earth partners with over 58,000 people across 2.1 million acres of tropical forest to keep 500 million tonnes of carbon locked in.
How can you help? Donate now!
